“Great satisfaction comes from sharing with others”

This is the mission of S. Harwand Singh Memorial Trust. We believe that real happiness lies in making others smile. Our dental practice has been creating smiles for years, but through the trust we are taking a big leap forward to create smiles by providing the less fortunate with basic amenities like health care, education, food and many more. Amongst the under privileged section of society, children are the most neglected part. They are the building blocks of the nation. Helping them today will create a better tomorrow.

  • • The trust devised 100 covid care kits which contained oximeteres, thermometers, and medicines like crocin, azithromycin, vitamin C, Becosule Z, and Ivermectin We realized that in small towns and localities, in villages and slums around us, people are collapsing without any warning. Where the whole world was looking for oxygen concentrators, there were places where people didn’t even know that their oxygen levels were falling due to lack of oximeteres. They didn’t know of the temperature variations due to lack of thermometer and didn’t have basic medications to take care of themselves at home. So we started a drive to provide, these basic amenities, in the interior of villages. Our representative especially identifies these areas and went personally to distribute. We also tied with certain NGOs to reach where we couldn’t.
  • • Other than that 50 steam inhalers, inhalation capsules, lozenges were distributed in ‘steam inhalation drive’ Everywhere in social media it was circulating that inhalers were necessary during covid infection. So we came up with the idea to provide steam inhalers to the people who are in need. We started the ‘steam inhalation drive’, to increase awareness about the steam inhalation and distributed them to people living in slums.
  • • 100 monthly rations were prepared to support one full village for one month Hunger is the first thing that has to be taken care in India. Most of the people are under poverty line and are not able to afford proper meals. Especially during lockdown due to the pandemic, many companies got closed which led to loss of jobs. There is No vaccination for hunger so the food has to be provided so that no one should sleep on an empty stomach.
  • • In the drive ‘Quench the thirst’ Roohafza was given to many families Generally in summers we arrange chabeels that are little stalls where we distribute roohafzasharbat with milk to everyone this time as we couldn’t do this due to Covid protocols we decided to distribute the bottles to the needy.
  • oxygen concentrator drive
Around 7 oxygen concentrators and about 5 big oxygen cylinders were brought and organized for the needy in this oxygen concentrator drive During this drive we provided the oxygen concentrators to everyone who required it, free of costs. 7 oxygen concentrators were stored at DENTEM, F-4/4, Vasant Vihar. Which were rotated among the patients, after proper sterilization. These concentrators were provided for use and disposable nasal cannula.
  • Distribution of masks
The mask drive was started with a vision to not only provide mask to the needy, but also to create a livelihood for women living in the villages. We bought the cloth from export house, and these cloth were provided to the ladies, who then made masks out of these cloth. They were paid for the stiching, and these masks were supplied to the police officers.
  • Sterilization drive
As we were working throughout the covid, we wanted to make sure, that the areas around us are completely disinfected. So we sterilized and disinfected all the lanes of F-Block every now and then.
  • Distribution of monthly ration in leprosy ashram
65 families who stay in the leprosy ashram were given their supply of monthly ration. Leprosy ashram is one place where people are scared to enter and tour. Surprisingly, it was so well maintained and so nicely kept. We yet have to see an ashram, as neat as that. Our director Dr.Tanvir Singh personally went there and distributed the ration.

A Diwali Gratitude series organized for kids by Dr. Gunita Singh Director Dentem

  • Diwali is a symbol of hope and it gets joy home. But this Diwali didn’t seem as happy as before the pandemic. Something was missing, so many people are missing. Everyone has lost someone. So to make it more special and joyful Dr. Gunita Singh, BDS MD Dental Lasers, Director Dentem& Associate Consultant Sir Ganga Ram Hospital planned a series of gratitude this Diwali by doing different activities with kids of coolie camp Next to Vasant Vihar, New Delhi.
  • By following the motto “Khushibaatne se Khushibadhtihai” Dr. Gunita Singh along with her team and friends started this series for 7 days, before Diwali. Starting from Friday, the first activity was a drawing competition for the kids, and then prize distribution happened today. So the starting 2-day event also included refreshments along with participation certificates and Diwali gifts for all kids present at the camp.
  • Also, there will be special gifts for 9 winners. Talking about the series, Dr. Gunita stated, “I just wanted to spread joy and spread happiness to everyone around who are less fortunate but didn’t know how to do so my friend Priyanka Singh also from Vasant Vihar who works closely with underprivileged showed me the way. This Diwali, together we could actually spread smiles and give happiness to man. Today on 30th October we distributed certificates and prizes to the winners. The smile on every child’s face made my day. I feel contended satisfied and happy and so worthwhile. Nothing can give you more happiness than sharing.”
